Company Domicile Certificate (SKDP) is a letter that provides official information relating to the place or domicile where the company operates. In simple terms, we can say that an SKDP is a KTP for a company.
In practice, companies that are legal entities use SKDP, while companies that are not legal entities use SKDU (Certificate of Business Domicile).
However, according to a statement in the Circular of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 503/6491/SJ of 2019, the SKDU has been removed and is no longer valid in the Jakarta area.
Function of Company Domicile Certificate
There are many examples of company domicile letters, basically these letters have the following functions.
1. The Legal Address for Business Operations
The main function of the SKDP is to show that the domicile address stated in it is the company’s official domicile address. Companies that already have an SKDP, have officially received recognition as domiciled in the location listed in the letter.
2. Document Management
Like KTP for citizens, SKDP has a function to manage various kinds of documents as the company grows. For example in taking care of the legality of the company.
In Jakarta, the regulations for Company Domicile Certificates based on Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2014, stipulate that an SKDP cannot be issued to companies using home addresses. Including companies that are not in office zoning also cannot take care of SKDP.
That’s why nowadays it’s quite popular with the term virtual office which can be a solution to getting a domicile in Jakarta that fulfills office zoning.
SKDP Validity Period
SKDP has a validity period of 5 years, while the domicile uses a virtual office valid 1 year. So, after the validity period has expired, you must extend it so that the SKDP remains active and the company documents are complete and safe.
You can only apply for SKDP registration after the company deed is issued. With regard to location, especially in Jakarta SKDP was replaced by NIB in 2019. So you can do it online in the SKDP OSS system.
